HENRICO HONORS MORE THAN 300 LEGACY COMPANIES
2021-06-22
Hundreds of local companies recognized for at least 25 years of operation in the community
HENRICO, VIRGINIA – On June 22, 2021, the Henrico Economic Development Authority (EDA) recognized local companies that have operated in the area for 25 years or more during a Henrico Board of Supervisors meeting. More than 300 companies made the list, with 27 companies achieving Gold Status for their accomplishment of 50 years or more in operation.
“Henrico may have established an international recognition for the six Fortune 1000 companies that call our community home, but there are also 25,000 other businesses that make up the foundation of our economy,” said Anthony Romanello, Executive Director of the Henrico EDA. “Small and mid-size businesses are our economic engines. They help create jobs for our residents and keep our communities vibrant. These companies deserve to be recognized for their contributions.”
Henrico maintains the fourth-largest economy in Virginia and is number two in the state for job production. Last year, 1,605 new jobs were created in Henrico – the most in Central Virginia.
“There are few words to adequately reflect how thankful Henrico is for the diverse businesses that have chosen it as their home,” said John Vithoulkas, Henrico County Manger. “That’s why the Henrico EDA established the Legacy program – as a way to say thank you. We’re especially proud to distinguish our Legacy companies.”
“In the wake of such a challenging year, we are incredibly grateful that these businesses chose Henrico and continue to grow and thrive,” said Romanello. “And we’re proud that our community offers a business climate that helps nurture such long-term success. As more industries continue to bounce back, we’re looking forward to celebrating the longevity of even more companies in the near future.
