Apple Door Systems began in 1973 with a simple mission: to provide dependable garage door service with a personal touch. Originally named Door Trouble, our company was founded in Virginia by Hubert Apple, who built the business on a foundation of quality craftsmanship and customer care. In the late ’70s, his son Dan Apple took the reins, renaming the company to Apple Door and carrying forward the same family-first values. What started as a small, local service company has grown into a trusted name across the state — but our commitment to service has never changed.
Evolving With Virginia
From our humble beginnings, Apple Door Systems has expanded to five showroom locations across Virginia, including Richmond, Waynesboro, Williamsburg, Chesapeake, and Ashland. Over the decades, we’ve evolved from being solely a garage door provider to offering comprehensive access solutions, including entry doors, security gates, awnings, loading dock equipment, and specialty commercial systems. Under Dan Apple’s leadership, the company not only grew in size but also in influence — including his founding of IDEA (Institute of Door Dealer Education and Accreditation), an organization dedicated to raising industry standards nationwide.
